After a brief hiatus while recording their new album “Back To The Drawing Room”, Smokey Bastard are taking to the road to officially launch it and kick up a folk-punk frenzy like they’ve never been away.
Formed in early 2007, Reading-based Folk-Punk outfit Smokey Bastard started with the intention of being the UK’s answer to the likes of Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly.
After self-releasing their debut album, “Propping Up the Floor” in 2009, Smokey Bastard began incorporating influences from further afield resulting in 2011’s “Tales From The Wasteland”, released on Bomber Music.
Now, after touring the UK and mainland Europe, playing a live Maida Vale session for the BBC Radio 1 Punk Show and countless festival appearances, Smokey Bastard will be released their third offering “Back To The Drawing Room” on Bomber Music after a hugely successful Pledge Music campaign.
With a more progressive approach to rhythm and song writing, Smokey Bastard are pushing the limits of what you thought Folk-Punk could be.
We’re delighted to be hosting them in their second home of Bristol at the Stag and Hounds on Old Market.
Plus two fantastic local supports to kick the night off:
Rambling, shambling, cider slurpin’ folk tales from THEY SHINKICKERS – a rarely seen side project of Jamer from The Surfin’ Turnips.
And top notch urban ska vibes from the much loved MUFF SAID. Bring yer dancin’ shoes.
